my 2 cents on the Auto Industry bailout

I first posted this thread asking if the Government should bail out the big 3 auto makers. I got a few comments which were obviously from people in the auto industry. (might even be the same person, based on the way he uses CAPS for certain words)

Here is my opinion

- Let them all go bankrupt. They should learn from years of terrible decisions. I own a small business and if i fuck it up, nobody is going to bail me out.

- Bust up the unions. Reduce pay on the assembly line. Average cost of American made car is estimated to be more than $2,000 than a car made overseas. Reducing costs allows American cars to compete with foreign ones sold in the US. Read Mitt Romney’s Op-Ed in the NY Times

- Have them declare bankruptcy, and rebuild the companies under new leadership, vision and non-union operating rules.

- You can’t say the auto makers deserve the bail out just because the financial companies and banks were helped. I don’t agree with the financial bail out either but two wrongs don’t make a right. It has to stop somewhere, or else everyone holds out their hands.

- If they really want a loan have the oil companies bail out their sorry asses.

Cue the nasty comments from desparate and disgruntled autoworkers.
